STMicroelectronics is one of the world's largest semiconductor companies with a net income of $8.35 billion in 2017.

Known for the industry's broadest portfolio of products, STMicroelectronics offers innovative smart driving and IoT semiconductor solutions to customers in a variety of electronic applications. Enjoy technology and enjoy life, STMicroelectronics advocates the idea that technology leads the way of life (a life.augmented).

Semiconductor solutions for smart driving and the Internet of Things

Today, ST's products are ubiquitous and work with customers to achieve smart driving, smart factories, smart cities and smart homes, as well as next-generation mobile and IoT products.

Smart driving: safer, more environmentally friendly, and more connected

According to industry estimates, 80% of the automotive industry's innovative applications are directly or indirectly realized by electronic technology, which means that the proportion of vehicle semiconductors is growing steadily year by year. By integrating multiple technologies, ST's smart driving products and solutions make cars safer, greener and more network-connected.

From vision, radar, imaging, sensors, GNSS satellite positioning technology, to follow-up steering systems and user display technology, our advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) product technology makes car driving safer; our energy management processor (EMU, ECU), power management chip used as the core component of all automotive subsystems, electric vehicle wide bandgap technology (SiC and GaN), sensors, etc., making car driving more environmentally friendly; our workshop communication and Vehicle communication (V2X) solutions, infotainment systems and in-vehicle information service processors, radio tuners, power amplifiers, and sensors make car networking communications more powerful.

Internet of Things: Smart personal devices, smart homes, smart cities and smart factories

Due to the highly fragmented IoT market, our target market spans the entire customer base, from the largest customers to more than 100,000 equally important small and medium-sized customers. We serve our customers through our dealer network and mass marketing programs.

Our personal daily lives benefit from the frequently used “smart products” that we carry every day. STMicroelectronics is a leading global semiconductor manufacturer with all the key technologies needed for next-generation consumer devices: low-power and ultra-low-power microcontrollers, security solutions, sensors and actuators, connectivity, regulation and protection, Motor control, power and power management.

STMicroelectronics makes development prototypes easy and affordable with a range of compatible development ecosystems, including hardware and software development tools, evaluation components and modules with pre-embedded software for vertical applications and cloud compatibility. The ST Partner Program offers the opportunity to expand trusted design and engineering companies to help customers accelerate time to market. STMicroelectronics meets the market demand for high-speed smart home and smart city systems by providing core technology products for energy management. From two-chip smart meter solutions to smarter street lighting systems, STMicroelectronics solutions target the key functions of smart cities. Smart meters help consumers and utilities record the use and cost of water, electricity and gas; smart street lights can monitor the environment, switch lights or adjust brightness according to ambient lighting conditions and municipal requirements, monitor traffic flow, and provide information on potential traffic conditions.

STMicroelectronics provides energy efficiency, flexibility and security in manufacturing and other industrial sectors by providing industrial automation and robotics. We call these technologies smart industrial technologies, and the changes that they have caused in the industrial sector are often referred to as the fourth industrial revolution. Industrial intelligence integrates a wide range of products, including microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, motor control, signal conditioning, industrial communication solutions, power supplies, protection devices, wireless modules, displays and LED controllers to make industrial systems smarter .

R&D and manufacturing

In order to maintain the company's technological frontier position, STMicroelectronics has always focused on technology research and development since its inception. Nearly 7,400 employees work in the product development and design field, and R&D expenditure in 2017 accounted for about 16% of total revenue. As a global technology leader, STMicroelectronics owns and continues to expand its vast patent pool (approximately 9,500 family patents, 17,000 patents, and 500 new patent applications (2017)).

The company has a rich chip manufacturing process, including advanced FD-SOI (fully depleted silicon on insulator), CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor), differential imaging technology, RF-SOI (silicon on RF insulation), Bi- CMOS, BCD (Bipolar, CMOS, DMOS), Silicon Carbide VIPower and MEMS technology.

STMicroelectronics adheres to the business philosophy of owning its own manufacturing facilities and building factories near the R&D center, and has established a huge network of pre- and post-process manufacturing in the world (pre-process refers to wafer fabrication, post-process refers to chip package test), main wafer The plants are located in Italy's Agrate Brianza and Catania, France's Crolles, Rousset and Tours and Singapore, with packaging and testing facilities in China, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, the Philippines and Singapore.

Sustainable development

Sustainability has been a guiding principle for STMicroelectronics for more than 20 years, and we have been a party to the UN Global Compact (UNGC) since 2000. As a member of a responsible business alliance, the original Electronic Industry Code of Conduct organization is a full member, and we actively participate in the industry's collective action plan to find effective ways to address the biggest challenges to sustainable development, such as conflict minerals, environmental protection, Social issues and supply chain management. Our business value is reflected in our charter and sustainability strategy, ensuring that our plans are in line with the company's top priorities and shareholder expectations.

The vision of ST's ubiquitous microelectronics has made a positive contribution to people's lives. Sustainability is also deeply rooted in all our business activities, giving us more opportunities to develop sustainable development principles. Technology and innovation help us anticipate and reduce business operations and performance risks.

The company publishes a sustainability report every year that fully discloses the company's sustainability plans and performance to all stakeholders.
